Welcome to this excellent puplet whose author is 'gray'.

This puplet was initially based on Puppy Linux 4.0 and uses the lightweight Xfce desktop environment.

AbiWord word processor and Gnumeric spreadsheet editor have been removed, as well as games and some other non-essential applications. The idea is that you install to a flash drive (or frugal install on hard disc drive) and then add the OpenOffice sfs package (or a goffice sfs pack to restore AbiWord, etc). Hotpup has been modified so as to work with Xfce.

Differences to Puppy Linux 4.0:
Xfce replaces JWM
Thunar replaces Rox as file manager (also includes video thumbnailers and audio metatagger)
Opera replaces Seamonkey as web browser (Opera also functions as good e-mail and BitTorrent clients)
xfburn replaces Pburn CD/DVD burner
xine-ui replaces gxine media player
Orage replaces Osmo personal organizer
Gtkbasic replaces puppybasic
galculator replaces all other calculators



New release [2009-04-24]
Version 4.13 is basically Puppy 4.1.2 but with many of the bug fixes and enhancements found on the forum since the last official puppy release, such as many of the app updates currently going into puppy 4.2. The big feature of this release is of course the new XFCE 4.6. Also included is Opera 10 alpha (yes I know it is an alpha but this is rock solid and puts many full releases of other software to shame). I also update CUPS to version 1.39 using Patriots pet and added lzma squashfs to keep the size down to 76MB. Known issues: Xarchiver has a bug. If you tick the box for add file extension automatically to the filename when creating an archive it doesnt work. Just add the extension yourself.
24/4/09 Edit: R1 version now has xfce 4.6.1, Pwidgets 2.0.7-1 and flashplayer 10.0.22.87; Pwidgets patch upgrades Pwidgets to improved preview of clock & sidebar.
